FORT WORTH — Cash Lee Harsche is only 9 months old, but he’s already taking home a ribbon from the Stock Show.

With a little help from his parents, Cash displayed his equine-showing skills during a Pony of the Americas competition. The event kicked off Tuesday and continues today.

"He loves horses," said Melissa Harsche, Cash’s mother and a horse trainer.

Cash took fourth place in lead-line equitation for riders 6 and under. Cash and AJ, a 5-year-old pony, prompted grins as they passed judges. Cash wore a cowboy outfit complete with boots and spurs. He showed off a two-tooth grin and tried to chew on his reins.

Cash’s parents said Pony of the Americas is solid family fun that helps teach youngsters responsibility. Competitors come from across the nation.
